Kaplan High School continues to prove that leadership, confidence, and preparation matter. Once again, our students stepped into the Vermilion Parish Government Day held at the courthouse in Abbeville and represented the Pirate family in an outstanding way. Year after year, Kaplan High students rise to the moment at this event, and this year was no exception.
We are proud to celebrate the students who earned these positions through their speeches and leadership:
• Isabel Mendez – District Judge
• Hunter Packard – District Attorney
• Anslee Hebert – School Board Member
• Kadey Duhon – Police Jury
• Lexi Greene – Parish Emergency Officer
• Bryce Mouton – Tax Assessor
Watching our students stand in the courthouse, speak with confidence, and earn the trust of their peers continues a long Kaplan High tradition of excellence at Government Day. Our Pirates have built a reputation for showing up prepared, speaking with conviction, and leaving their mark on this event.
A special thank you goes to Mrs. Tori Broussard, who stepped in this year as the new sponsor and did an incredible job guiding these students. She took the torch and ran with it, and the results speak for themselves.
Kaplan High continues to show that when opportunity meets preparation, great things happen. Our students didn’t just participate; they dominated. Way to be UNSTOPPABLE TODAY!

🚨 KHS REPRESENTING AT PARISH GOVERNMENT DAY! 🚨
Today our Kaplan High School students are stepping into leadership roles and representing our Pirate family at Parish Government Day! These students are learning firsthand how local government works while showcasing the leadership, responsibility, and Pirate pride that makes KHS so special.
We are incredibly proud of these young leaders for taking on this opportunity to learn, serve, and represent our school community.
💛🖤 Good luck to our KHS participants today — go be UNSTOPPABLE! Your voices matter, your leadership matters, and we can’t wait to see the impact you make.

Mrs. Eva Lange’s Biology II class dove straight into one of the most fascinating experiences in science this week, heart dissection.
Students had the opportunity to examine the structure of the heart up close, identifying chambers, valves, and major vessels while seeing firsthand how the human circulatory system is designed to function. What made the moment even better was the energy in the room. Curiosity, questions, and excitement filled the lab as students explored and connected what they have been learning in class to real-world anatomy.
Experiences like this are what make science come alive. When students are able to see, touch, and investigate the concepts they study, learning becomes meaningful and memorable.
Great work to Mrs. Eva and her Biology II students for embracing the challenge and diving right into discovery. This is how future scientists are inspired.

This month at Kaplan High School, we want to share with everyone how our students feel about our teaching staff. So, each week, you'll hear directly from the students of KHS about teachers they feel are making the biggest impact in their lives, and who deserve a "shout-out."
Thank you, students, for opening your hearts and celebrating unstoppable excellence. That's the "Pirate-Way!"
We LOVE you!

Happening TODAY! 🏴☠️🖤💛🏴☠️

✨💛 TOMORROW is the Dream Dress Drive… and a chance to change a life. 💛✨
Somewhere in our community, there’s a young girl quietly wondering if she’ll get to go to prom… not because she doesn’t want to — but because she doesn’t have a dress.
Tomorrow, YOU can be the reason she walks into that dance feeling confident, beautiful, and seen. 👗✨
The Dream Dress Drive is about more than fabric and sequins.
It’s about dignity.
It’s about belonging.
It’s about giving a student the chance to shine without worrying about the cost.
If you have:
• Gently loved formal dresses
• Shoes
• Accessories
• Clutches or jewelry
Bring them. Donate them. Pass them on. 💕
That dress hanging in your closet could become someone’s most unforgettable memory.
Let’s show our community what Pirate hearts are made of — generosity, compassion, and love. ⚓💛
Because every girl deserves her dream dress. ✨👑

Reminders: Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24, 2026 is the LAST DAY to donate Mardi Gras Beads for the Arc. The class who donates the MOST beads will be rewarded with an ice cream party! And while you are digging in your closets for those beads, please consider donating formal dresses, shoes, and accessories to the KHS Dream dress Drive this Saturday, February 28! We were able to gift dresses to 17 of our Miss KHS contestants, and we would love to be able to help our Lady Pirates with our upcoming Prom. Thanks in advance for your generosity in donating for these two worthy causes!
