Each day we will spotlight a figure from history who has made a positive impact on our world and a little about their impact along with a quote. Today’s figure is Bessie Coleman. Bessie Coleman soared across the sky as the first woman of African American and Native American descent to earn her pilot’s license in the U.S. Known for performing flying tricks, Coleman’s nicknames were: “Brave Bessie,” “Queen Bess,” and “The Only Race Aviatrix in the World.” Her goal was to encourage women and African Americans to reach their dreams – and this became her legacy. Though her life and career were cut short in a tragic plane crash, her life and legacy continue to inspire people around the world. Happy Friday Pirates! Congratulations to the Lady Pirates who finished the Parish Basketball Tournament as Middle School Parish Runner Up! We are so very proud of all of your work and also the coaches! Disney’s Descendants the Musical Cast will be posted in the gym this morning.
