Ms. Sarah’s 3rd graders enjoyed a morning of Easter treats and fun on the playground. 🐣🐰Her class earned play time outside for the class average score being a 79% on their 3rd ELA benchmark. They worked so hard to meet their 80% goal and almost achieved it! Keep working hard!
JOES celebrates Autism Awareness!
JOES News - March 30th through April 3rd
JOES 4-h members were able to participate in KHS FFA Farm Showcase today. There were several stations set up where members were able to get hands on experiences with farm animals and equipment. KHS students and FFA members were very knowledgeable at each station informing the members about their exhibit. It was a great experience!
Mrs. Aimee Humble won a grant from Meritus Credit Union for $250 to purchase storage sacks for her students’ desk.
Ms. Trahan’s homeroom visited the school garden on Monday, learned about gardening, and sampled fresh strawberries picked out of the school garden!
Briya Trahan participated in the Iowa Rabbit Festival yesterday in two shows. She placed First in both shows and won Best of Opposite Breed! Great job Briya, we're super proud of you! Keep up the great work! 🐰

Today JOES is celebrating World Down Syndrome Day by rocking their socks!
Mrs. Trahan’s gardeners had a blast learning about organisms, living things, and how to get garden beds ready to plant! They even ate fresh strawberries from the garden.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our JOES Library Read-A-Thon!! There's still time to donate if you haven't already, and funds raised will be used for Accelerated Reader program rewards (for this school year and next).
The 34 Jesse Owens Read-A-Thon participants need to make sure to spend their RAT Bucks by Thursday, March 26th, 2026. Any RAT Bucks not spent by Thursday, March 26, 2026, will no longer be available, and the prize store can not be reopened once it is closed. (Donations can be made thrugh March 26, 2026, also).
All prizes will be shipped directly to our school and Mrs. Heather will get them to your child.

JOES News - March 16th through March 20th
JOES was well represented at today's Vermilion Parish Physical Fitness Meet. Selected by Coach Dawn Broussard, our athletes were Audi Mouton, Khloe Theriot, Renity Bertrand, Jake LeBlanc, Austin Breaux, and Isaac Cormier. Special congratulations to Jake LeBlanc, who placed 2nd in the 50 yard dash!

JOES News - March 9th through March 13th
Our JOES library Read-a-Thon has been a success, and it ends on Monday, March 16, 2026. Students earn read-a- thon bucks for every donation that they receive, and will be able to spend these on prizes that they choose on the website once it is , and funds will be used to purchase items needed for Accelerated Reader student rewards at the end of each nine weeks. Thank you to all who supported our students, and I will be giving additional prizes at school for those who participated in this event!
